Perfect Dog What would be the perfect dog for my family?
It is preferably one that doesn’t shed,doesn’t require much grooming nor exercise, and is easy to train. It would also have to be one that is good with children, small, and good in apartments.
Look at shelter dogs or on petfinder if you want an adult dog, because breeders don’t usually have adult dogs. As for the type of dog…
I have a havanese and It’s funny becuase I had to have some of the same requiremnts and my havanese is the best dog and the dog I’ve have always needed and wanted!!! Shes perfect! I recomend a havenese to you 100%! Good Luck!

I wouldn’t reccommend you getting a cocker spaniel with young kids becuase they have been know (little people know this) to snap at around five (even to the ones it loves most) it’s just something they do… Save yourself the worries- get a havanese! And havanese are the second or third smartest dogs in the world! (german shepard and standard poodle placing first) HAVANESE”S ARE ALSO EXTREMLY GOOD WITH KIDS, AND VERY FRIENDLY! THEY ARE ALSO HYPO-ALLERGETIC!!!!! you can’t beat that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (hypo-allergetic means you can’t be allergect to it becuase they don’t have dander in their fur) they don’t bark alot either if you get the right one- mine NEVER barks and I love that!!!! ; ) Also havanese’s are ADORABLE!!!!! (but no table-food for them!) They don’t need many walks at all if u play with it fairly often. It is active ESPECIALLY as a puppy- (like most dogs)

Bark Obedience How can I stop my German Shepherd pulling me over?
I have a 9 month female german shepherd. She is well natured, however sometimes (not all the time) she will go into an absolute frenzy when we meet other dogs on the street. She wears a halti, and has been taken to obedience classes with other dogs since she was 3 months old. When we see the dog, I tell her ‘No’ but she does not respond to her name or anything. She wriggles around, barks, trying to get at the other dog. She has pulled me over twice now and it’s starting to hurt now!! My partner walks her also, she will bark with him but none of the lungeing etc.
Any advice?
I have also tried taking a bottle of pebbles out with me and shaking it when she does it, then reward. Worked for a while
A dog will respond to your body language. When you get close to another dog, she can feel you tense up, you probably shorten her lead so she thinks there’s a reason to react.
You need to change your reaction in order to change her response. First, you need to be calm if you want her to be. Quietly but firmly, ask her to sit and stay. Stand in front of her if you need to. Lots of praise for obeying. When a dog gets close to you, talk to her to distract her – tell her “easy” or “stay close” and keep walking. You’ll have to try what works best for her.
Find out what triggers her. Is it big dogs? Dogs who bark at her ? Small, white dogs? If you know what gets her to react like that, you can be ready well ahead of time. Spend a little more time working with her. She is still a puppy and needs more reinforcement – be patient.
